Whitwell Publishing is a family business in every sense of the word, founded by Dr. David Whitwell. The collection then grew with the addition of Giselle Whitwell's books and also features a set of Whitwell History books which tell the story of one of America's oldest families which has played an active civic, cultural and philanthropic role from the pre-revolutionary era through and including modern times.
The books below will help you learn more about the roots of the Whitwell Family. A special thank you is due David Whitwell, who spent decades travelling the country to meet living Whitwells, researching family roots and relatives at various libraries (some of which had records dating back to the colonial era). He did this to both preserve our knowledge of Whitwells but equally so to celebrate American history, which is indelibly interwoven with the story of our family. Learning about history in the context of real people is so much more fun and insightful than just rotely memorizing dates of major turning points in U.S. history. Enjoy!
